Emergency Numbers

010 – If you only remember one emergency number it should be this one. Wait for the recorded message to speak to a phone operator. This is the general information number for a range of services and enquiries. Call this number if your emergency is not too serious and you want to know which Health Center to visit.

061 - To get a doctor who will make a house call, call 061. The doctors are usually very prompt and professional. This is also the number for ambulance service for medical emergencies. You can also call 933 002 020

112 – EU number for all general emergencies like ambulance, fire department and police.

080, 085 – If the situation involves a bomb threat or a fire.

Police Emergency

If you need to report a theft or other crime you will need to visit a Comisaria (police station) to make an official report (denuncia) which can be used for insurance claims. You can make a report by phone and later pick up the report by calling 902 102 112. To find your nearest police station or for police information call 932 903 000.

If you need a centrally located police station try the Mossos d'Esquadra Catalan police station at Carrer Nou de la Rambla 80, Paral.lel or the Guardia Urbana at La Rambla 43.

062Guardia Civil Police Force handles mainly customs and is a national police force for both civil and military matters.

088Catalan Police (Mossos d'Esquadra) they are responsible for handling crime situations and accidents.

091National Police handle the larger issues like criminal cases, judicial issues, immigration problems, passport issues and terrorist activities.

092Local Police (Guardia Urbana) responsible for public order, traffic safety and for every day disputes rather than major crimes.
